MOROCCO PHOTO RETREAT

Join us for a winter Photo Retreat in Skoura, Morocco, where December brings a quiet magic to palms, kasbahs, and open desert. We will seek minimalist images shaped by sand, wind, and sky. Expect soft dawns over the palm grove, earthen walls glowing amber, mist drifting across irrigated fields, and the clean geometry of adobe architecture set against wide horizons. Our days will take us through nearby valleys and oasis villages, visiting ancient kasbahs and market lanes, always looking for simple, elemental compositions such as lines of palms, mud-brick texture, traces of caravan routes, and the hush of winter life.

Our home for the retreat is extraordinary. A luxurious villa with 1,000 square meters of space, surrounded by 70,000 square meters of private land. It is a peaceful place made for creativity. With a private chef, we will share nourishing meals and settle into a gentle rhythm with morning outings, afternoon reviews, and evening printing. The villa itself is a subject worth studying, with courtyards and terraces, tadelakt walls that catch the light, and carved wood and stone that reveal form and tactility.

We will lean into winter’s quiet mood. At dawn we look for veiled horizons and soft gradients. During the day we chase crisp contrasts, wind-drawn lines in sand, and shadow play across earthen facades. Twilight and night bring subdued color, star-filled skies, and lantern-lit calm. Our outings will be intense and purposeful, including palm groves, riverbeds, hilltop viewpoints, rural paths, and historic kasbahs. Each location is chosen for atmosphere and clarity, always in tune with a minimalist approach.

As always, Rafael will work closely with each participant. Daily sessions for editing, post-processing, and printing will help you shape a thoughtful body of work by the end of the week. Anca, a professional bookmaker, will craft a handmade artist book for every participant. Your photographs, beautifully printed and bound, become a tactile memory of this winter retreat in Skoura, an authentic and unforgettable experience in the Moroccan desert.
