MasterPROJECT - FAQ

What are the entry requirements?

The MasterPROJECT is only available for students who have already completed the MasterCOURSE “Photography with Intent”. The MasterCOURSE will have provided you with the tools and the knowledge to photograph with intent. The MasterPROJECT becomes the logical next step, where you will apply it all to develop a project from scratch and materialize an idea into a publishable photographic body of work. During the MasterPROJECT, we will refer back to material, examples and case studies of our MasterCOURSE. This will also allow us to gain time, and focus on you and the practical realization of your photographic project.

Is there a limit to the number of students that can enroll at any time?

Because the MasterPROJECT provides one-to-one guidance and support from your tutor, there is a limit to the number of students we can handle at a given time. For this reason, the MasterPROJECT will only accept enrollment of a very limited amount of students every year. If the MasterPROJECT is not accepting any more students, you can always sign up to the waiting list and we will let you know as soon as a new place becomes available, so that you can decide to join in.

Are there fixed dates to start, or is it flexible?

The MasterPROJECT is a flexible learning program that you can follow at your own pace. You can adjust your progression to your agenda. Your tutor will adapt to your rhythm so that you decide when you fix your meetings with him and receive his feedback and guidance.

For someone studying spare-time , this course might take around 6 months to be completed. This can be done by allotting a few hours every week, enjoying the process without it becoming a burden. The MasterPROJECT has been designed not only to help you become a much better photographer but also to let you fully enjoy the learning process and learn at your own pace, with all flexibility.

Once you enroll in our MasterPROJECT, you will have one year of access to the MasterPROJECT content area. Because the MasterPROJECT has been designed to be covered in six months for most people, you have plenty of time to finish your Project, even at the slowest pace, without having to stress. In these 12 months you will be able to receive your Personalized Assessments of your tutor, as well as the final Diploma, printed Portfolio and final written Assessment at the end of your studies. Bear in mind that from day one you will be able to download all the PDFs, so that means you will, in any case, keep all that material with you when the twenty-four months expire. In order to keep the videos up-to-date and limit the hassle of downloading heavy files, videos can be viewed in streaming.

After the 24 months, there will be the possibility to remain as Alumni, having access to all the updates and extensions of the MasterCOURSE material, and also remain as a full member of the COMMUNITY, by means of a symbolic Alumni annual subscription fee.

How long does the MasterPROJECT take?

Normally, it should take you around 6 months to complete your MasterPROJECT. Longer that this, you will procrastinate. Less than this and it will become stressful. Based on our experience, 6 months should be plenty of time for developing your photographic project while enjoying every moment of it.

Is there any follow-up or personalized guidance for the MasterPROJECT students?

Yes. That is in fact the main idea!

The MasterPROJECT is truly a mentoring program, with personalized guidance, feedback and support. Every week, you will meet your tutor online to review the progress with your project, ask questions, receive feedback and guidance. There will be submissions to make, exercises to complete and material to read. Your tutor will review all your work and provide enlightening feedback throughout the MasterPROJECT.

How much time will I need to allot for the MasterPROJECT?

It depends on each photographer, but you should plan for around five to ten hours a week, for a duration of six months. That makes a total of around 150 hours. This time will include reading material, writing, interacting with your tutor and doing practical work in the field and in the studio.

What do I get at the end of the MasterPROJECT?

At the end of the MasterPROJECT, you will receive a Diploma certifying you have successfully completed the MasterPROJECT.

You will also receive a final written assessment from your tutor based on your performance.

In addition, you will also receive a printed portfolio of publishable standards of your final project.

How can I pay? Are my payment details secure?

Once your application of enrollment is approved, you will be asked to make your payment by wire transfer into our bank account. If you would prefer to make your payment online, you will be sent an invoice via Paypal or Stripe so that you can pay with your credit card. In this case, however, you will be asked to cover the payment gateway fees of 4%.

Can I pay in separate instalments?

Yes, you can pay in 6 automatic online installments. For this option, there will be an increase of the final total price of 10% in order to cover fees charged by the payment gateway and our membership third-party supplier. • Data integrity: Prevents unauthorized parties from altering data during transmission (like during a Form Block submission).

  • Authentication: Protects against impersonation by requiring web server proof of identity.

Is this MasterPROJECT just for landscape or outdoor photographers?

Not at all. Our MasterPROJECT caters to creative photographers who use photography as a tool of personal expression. If you conceive of photography as a tool that allows you to express feelings, concepts, thoughts, emotions… then our MasterPROJECT is for you.

One of the things that you will learn throughout the MasterPROJECT is that, when approaching photography as a tool of personal expression, the subject matter is very often different from the subject of the photograph itself. When you use non-literal channels of expression like signs, symbols, metaphors, and connotations, you can photograph a landscape, a portrait, or a still life and still be referring to the same concept, emotion, or feeling. In other words, personal and expressive photography is not bound to subject matter. This is why this course will help you, no matter what subject matter you photograph, and help you identify, hone, and cultivate your own personal vision and expressive potential.

Where and how will the MasterPROJECT take place?

In order to make the course as flexible as possible and maximize our use of time, everything takes place online. During the entire learning program, we will make use of cutting-edge interactive technologies available for distance learning, making it possible to hold one-to-one webinars, submit assignments and communicate with your tutor.

Will I receive a certificate or accreditation with this MasterPROJECT?

Upon completing the MasterPROJECT, you will receive a Certificate of Achievement and Diploma from “Essential Seeing - Meaningful Photography Learning” that certifies that you have gone through the whole learning program.

Will we meet in real life?

Yes, if you like! Every year, we organize thematic workshops and photo-immersion trips all over the world. Some of them will only be open to alumni members. As student of our Master PROJECT, you will have the chance to enroll in any of these public or private events and meet your fellow photographers and your tutor personally.

Do you expect to carry out a MasterPROJECT in a language other than English?

The first Master PROJECT programs will run in English. However, we have not ruled out the possibility of also running them in French and Spanish in the future. If you are interested in these options, please send us an email.
