ICELAND WESTFJORDS

During this Retreat, we will work in the area of the Northwest Fjords of Iceland, one of the most remote, authentic, and magnetic places in Iceland, and a place that we know very well. We will be based in our own house facing the ocean, away from villages and towns in the middle of nowhere, but close to everything we are looking for. We will have ample time to connect with the landscape and photograph in different environments: cliffs, lonely valleys, open fjords, never-ending beaches, villages and abandoned settlements… all of them bathed in that light and mood only found in Iceland. We have timed our trip during the magical colours of autumn, when the mountains get covered with a golden, red and yellow blanket as birches, blue berries and mosses turn their colour before the arrival of winter. This is a unique moment and an ideal way of experiencing a part of Iceland that has remained as pure, pristine and authentic as it always was, untouched by tourism and maintaining its mysterious aura.

As with all our Photo Retreats, Rafael will work every day with each participant to edit, post-process and print a curated portfolio of images made during the week. At the end of the week, Anca, who is also a professional bookmaker, will craft a handmade artist book for each participant, beautifully showcasing a curated selection of your printed photographs from this extraordinary experience.

Due to the remoteness of this area, this Photo Retreat is longer than usual, with 10 full days of magic!
